Apple Working on a Curved Display iPhone for Next Year

Apple will be likely following the footsteps of its rival Samsung, according to new reports. The Cupertino Company is now said to be working on curved display technology for its iPhone devices that will arrive next year with big overhauls.

The curved organic light emitting diode will be similar to what we have seen in the Edge models of Samsung’s flagship models Note 7 and Galaxy S7, featuring curves on either sides of the display. This will be the first time for which Apple will be tweaking its display on a broader range. The company is already said to be working on a single sheet OLED display on its front for its iPhone model that will arrive in 2017.


The curved model will be making to the list as the third iPhone device that will get launched next year. The list currently includes a 4.7-inch iPhone device model and two 5.5-inch sized iPhone Plus devices, one among which will be expectedly coming out with the curved display. The curved display for Apple is also likely to be ‘exclusively’ supplied by Samsung, who are regarded the leaders in smartphone curved displays after having launched flagship variants with the technology.

This is not the first time for which curved displays are being rumoured for iPhone. Earlier this year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has tipped the inclusion of curved OLED display technology in Apple’s flagship that will be launched next year.

Apart from this, Apple’s iPhone 8 devices will also have its iconic physical home key removed from to incorporate the single sheet display. The news now comes from Bloomberg, which also reveals more about the iPhone devices for Japan. This follows the earlier report from WSJ that hinted the same.

With the omission, Apple will likely be packing its home button features along with the display. Various reports also suggest that a new touch-alternate will be introduced to replace the physical home keys in 2017’s iPhone devices.
