Corning Gorilla Glass Will Debut on Galaxy Note 7: Report

July 25, 2016, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Corning recently unveiled its latest display protection, the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Despite having revealed that it would arrive during fall this year, Corning kept the other info undisclosed, like the device on which it could make its debut. But it seems like we have an answer for that now.

According to a report from Korean site ETNews, Corning’s Gorilla 5 glass will make its debut on upcoming Samsung’s phablet flagship, the Note 7. The report has listed both Galaxy Note 7 and Apple’s iPhone 7 as devices that will be housing the Gorilla 5 protection over its display.

But going by the release date of both flagships, it appears that the debut device will be Galaxy Note 7. Apple’s iPhone 7 device is not expected to get unveiled before the last weeks of September, which remains the usual period in which Apple launches its flagship devices. However, Samsung will be launching its Galaxy Note 7 device on August 2nd and will be probably making the device available on the markets within two weeks following the launch.

Corning revealed Gorilla Glass 5 as the best available protection for displays. With improved toughness over its predecessors, Gorilla Glass 5 can offer protection to the device even in drops that occur from waist-shoulder heights.

With this addition, it appears that Galaxy Note 7 will be the best output from Samsung until now. The device along with its hefty spec-array is also expected to arrive with iris scanner, an all-glass design, and a 2K screen. We can know more on August 2.
