ZTE’s Daydream VR Ready Smartphones Start Shipping this Weekend

ZTE has revealed all final details regarding its Axon 7 smartphone that was revealed a month ago boasting Google’s Daydream VR support. The company has now announced that its flagship device will be available for a price of $400, with shipping set to commence on July 17.

ZTE Axon 7 is the company’s most powerful smartphone, and is presented with rich features including Daydream VR support, Google’s combined software & hardware VR standards. ZTE was one among the eight partners announced by Google for its Daydream VR during its announcement, with the rest being Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, Asus, and Alcatel.

As with the specs, ZTE Axon 7 packs a 5.5-inch sized that is backed by a superior AMOLED display of quad HD resolution. Inside, it ropes in Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 820, and it comes with a RAM of 4GB, and internal storage of 64 GB. ZTE hasn’t revealed anything about the bigger version that was unveiled alongside which featured 128GB storage along with 6GB of RAM.


A 20MP camera is used on the rear side, and it boasts features like optical image stabilisation, 4K recording, 240 FPS slow-mo videos etc. ZTE Axon 7 is also powered by the same audio technology that was used for Axon Pro, providing a best in-class audio experience, with two dedicated hi-fi sound chips and an enhanced software. It also packs fingerprint sensors on the rear side and USB Type-C port on the bottom.

ZTE has said that it will start the shipping of Axon 7 on July 17, for which they have started collecting pre-orders from July 13 in US. ZTE Axon 7 is available on Amazon, Best Buy and ZTE website. The company has also started pre-order collection in Canada, where the device will be made available on July 27.
