Polaroid Takes on Instagram with Its New Motion Photo App, Polaroid Swing

Internet is no place for videos, it’s a place for moving photos. This is what some of the leading app vendors want to teach us now to keep up the flow of our busy lives. Apple, Instagram, HTC has already been registered as the tutors for this, and the latest to join them now is Polaroid

The company has now launched a new app called Polaroid Swing, which has been developed under the association of PLR Inc. that licenses Polaroid with Swing, a start-up that is helmed by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.

Polaroid Swing hands us the exact same feature which the other apps have been providing us; to create pictures that can be brought to life. Using Polaroid Swing, users can snap photos akin to Live Photos on the go with just the swipe of a button.  Photos created using the app are also the shortest among the batch, as these can be turned alive only for one second.  Apple Live Photos offered up to three seconds of live footage packed inside the images.

polroidSimilar to the rest, Polaroid Swing’s photos can be brought to life by holding the still image. But besides, it presents a new way of making the images lively, and that’s by swinging your smartphone with your wrist. Now you get to know why they have named the app so.

Polaroid’s live images can be shared within the app, and also across other social media like Facebook and Twitter. Despite having shorter life than Apple Live Photos, Polaroid Swing offers an upper hand with its availability on all iOS running devices. Apple Live Photos is compatible only on iPhone 6S and 6S Plus device. So it’s a good way for those owning older devices to have a shot with live images.

Polaroid Swing is available for free now on App Stores. There is no word on when it will be arriving for Android, but we can expect it soon.
