After exerting for years with Project Tango, Google is finally coming close to bring a fruitful result to consumers. The company has revealed that Lenovo’s Phab 2 Pro, the first ever consumer smartphone to be powered by Google’s augmented reality project, will finally be available for customers from this September.

Earlier, leaks had revealed that the smartphone would feature a display of 6.4-inch, and it hasn’t changed with the final word coming out.

The quad HD IPS display will feature a resolution of 2560×1440. The price range also remains the same like expected, and Lenovo will have the smartphone selling at $499 for the unlocked version in US.

Surprisingly, Lenovo has opted to omit the flagship SoC from Qualcomm, and has instead turned on to the mid-range beast, Snapdragon 652, which they also refer to as ‘Built for Tango’.  4GB RAM ticks alongside this SoC, and the onboard storage is of 64GB. It can be expanded via microSD.

Coming to the main part, the rear-cam segment, Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is powered by a 16MP fast-focus camera with infrared depth sensor and motion tracking. This is what forms the hardware part of Project Tango, capturing all the environment along with mapping capabilities to induce augmented reality to the captured data.

The front cam is built of an 8MP sensor. The dual-SIM phablet also comes with a relatively decent battery of 4050mAh that supports fast charging.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will be arriving with a handful of apps pre-installed to make use of the Project Tango prowess. It will include augmented reality powered games too, along with apps for services like simulation of shopping, navigation, activities and more.

Google is also stressing on revving up indoor navigation through Project Tango to the levels of outdoor navigation, which can be handy when in bigger places like museums, galleries, stadiums, and other such buildings.

The device will initially arrive on US this September, and will be exclusively be made available through Best Buy and Lowe’s.
