Sony’s New Xperia XA Ultra is a Selfie Beast

May 18, 2016, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

When we speak of a selfie beast among smartphone, it used to be smartphones that boasted flash cameras on the front, or dual-sensor quality in its secondary camera. But Sony has taken a step ahead, and has now come up with the pure selfie giant called the Xperia XA.

From the 12 MP standards which is currently the highest benchmark for front-facing cams, Sony Xperia XA ups the game by featuring a 16MP sensor with flagship features like optical image stabilisation.

LED flashlights are featured on the front, and the camera is wide enough to capture 88-degress of wide-angle imageries.  The company itself labels the device as a ‘stylish selfie-cam masterpiece’.

This doesn’t make the smartphone a selfie-focused smartphone, as Sony has made sure to impart bettered features on its rear cam, which comes with a 21 MP Sony Exmor R camera sensor. It also comes with hybrid autofocus.

Speaking of the hardware, Sony Xperia XA Ultra boasts a MediaTek MT6755 octa-core processor that comes with 3GB of RAM. The combo doesn’t sound too flagship, but it can sure deliver an uncompromised performance.

The 6-inch display is rounded at edges and features a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It’s encased in a metallic casing which is designed sleek with a thickness of 0.33mm.

The Xperia XA Ultra will be coming out in July. Sony hasn’t specified the markets in which its new device will be made available. The pricing is also yet to be revealed. The device will be made available in three color variants; Black, White and Lime Gold.
