Huawei has finally unwrapped the P9 smartphone that has been much been anticipated after having been part of the rumor mills for a while. At an event that took place in London, the Chinese firm also launched the bigger brother of the device, called the Huawei P9 Plus alongside.

Except for a few features, Huawei has made the Plus version of P9 completely different from that of the standard version. The variations starts with the display, with the P9 packing a 5.2-inch display and the P9 Plus packing a 5.5-inch display. Both of them will be powered by Full HD resolution.

Inside, the two devices pack the same chipset; Kirin 955 octa-core SoC. However, there are variations in the RAM and storage offering. The P9 will offer a RAM of 3GB, and will put forward two storage variants coming with 32GB and 64GB onboard storage.

The P9 Plus on the other side features a RAM of 4GB, and also skips the 32GB version to offer 64GB and 128GB variants. Micro SD cards are compatible on both devices.

There’s also a bigger 3400mAh battery housed in P9 Plus compared to the P9 model, which comes with a battery of 3000mAh.

Although with these differences residing, Huawei has managed to keep the camera factor uniform for both the devices, and it will the dual-lens technology that will form the primary cam segment for the P9 devices.

The 12MP sensors on the rear will work distinctly for color and monochrome input, improving the light capture efficiency three fold than on a normal 12MP sensor. The front cam is powered by an 8MP sensor.

Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be running the Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MUI 4.1 layered on top of it. The devices also host other leading features like USB Type C port and fingerprint sensors.

The first one to enter the markets will be P9 as it gets ready to enter the markets of Asia and Europe by this month. It will be available within the price range of $683-$740. Huawei P9 Plus, whose pricing starts at $853, will be launched only during next month.
