ATIV Book 9 Pro is Samsung’s First Ever 4K Outing on a Laptop

After giving a series of 4K-touches to its TV devices, Samsung is now turning its attention to fetching the technology into the laptop segment too.

With a 15.6-inch, 3840 x 2160 resolution display, Samsung has unveiled the latest in its ATIV notebook series, called the ATIV Book 9 Pro.

Except for its slim factor, the latest entry in the TIV segment barely represents the spec-array we might expect to see in the heftily powered ultra-book series.

Instead, Samsung has gone the workstation way to bring out a laptop that packs it stuff.

The display here is the biggest plus, which comes with brightness and contrast optimization features, which Samsung calls ‘real time HDR enhancements’.  However, the GPU of the device is powered only by Nvidia GTX 450.

That’s ample enough when considering even some of the hardcore games in a notebook. But the 4K factor can play a deteriorating role with its performance.

We can expect something different in the case of the processor, as ATIV Book 9 Pro arrives with Intel’s latest 6th gen Core i7 processors, clocked at 2.6GHz.

All these come accompanied with a RAM of 8GB, and SSD storage of 256GB. Even with 4K inclusion, Samsung claims that the device can last for more than 6 hours on a single charge, which is pretty good comparing the rest among 4K laptops.

ATIV Book 9 Pro will be coming at a price of $1,599, and can be purchased from Samsung website as well as Best Buy later this month.

Alongside, Samsung will also bring forward ATIV Book 9 Spin, which is the convertible variant with 360-degree rotatable display.

It although lacks 4K powers, and features a QHD resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels under its 13.3-inch size measurement.

Everything else remains the same for the ATIV Book 9 Spin, including the processor, except for that it comes slightly under-clocked at 2.5GHz. The device is priced at $1,399.
