LG V10 Arrives with Dual-Screen and Dual Front Cams

While Samsung played with the thought of stretching screen displays to the edges, LG is rejigging those thoughts, and is upping the extension to the top.

LG’s new V10 smartphone has now made its debut alongside LG Urbane Watch 2, presenting an entirely new concept of dual-screen usage in smartphones.

Launched as a phablet, LG’s V10 sports a 5.7-inch QHD display primarily. But what adds the measurement here is the extra secondary display on top, which puts the entire measurement to 5.9 inches.

The screen on top is dedicated for quick-access with the frequent settings, like it has been offered on Samsung’s Edge range of devices. But the one here is distinct and isolated from the main screen.

Measuring 0.2-inches, the secondary screen comes with an always-on feature, and can be even accessed with its main screen switched off.

Besides this new off-beat feature, LG has also brought another ‘dual factor’ to the front side, and that’s with its camera. It’s not like the dual-sensors we have seen in HTC devices.

Instead, the 5MP duo here captures entirely different frames at different angles. The combined action is what makes V10 capture wide-angle images at 120 degree width. The rear cam is of 16MP, which can be used to capture 4K videos at 30fps.

LG’s V10 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset mounted with quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 & dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57.

The chipset is coupled with a RAM of 4GB, and the internal storage offered is 64GB. The blessing here is that it does come with the support for micro SDs, which can be up to 2TB.

What surprises here is the battery capacity. LG has opted to pack only a 3000mAh battery, which indeed seems inadequate for what it packs inside. And the dual-screen feature is only to draw more from the battery. However, LG claims that the secondary screen will only drain less than 5% battery when put in action.

LG hasn’t revealed the pricing at which V10 will be making it to the markets. It can be expected to be revealed soon, as the premium flagship is to arrive at the markets during next month.
