Apple iPad Pro May Arrive this Year Packing Bigger Displays

A new iPad is being put on the cards by the Cupertino company and it seems to be a lusty affair if we go by the built up rumors.

Reports of a bigger display have been surfacing ever since Apple’s upcoming device got linked with split-screen multitasking. 12-inch ones were suggested, and now it’s almost close to confirmation that iPad Pro will be housing a 12.9-inch display, feted by a resolution of 2732 x 2048.

These numbers mean that the pixel density count would remain the same as of that in iPad Air, which was nearly around 264 ppi.

Taiwanese media reports have also leaked saying that Apple has tied up with Samsung and Sharp for these bigger displays.

While the device is being billed to feature display units from Sharp, Apple is believed to have roped in the technology from Samsung as a back-up plan. Sharp is rumored to be handing over the displays to Apple by the month of September.

LG, who showed up for the tiny displays in Apple Watch, were also considered, but was later omitted due to production issues. However, the Korean manufacturers will remain the sole-display providers for the next generation of Apple Watch, tipped to make its debut this year.

The iPad Pro is supposedly to feature split-screen multi-tasking, with support for up to three screens at a time. Other speculation regarding the iPad Pro is that it would be running both the iOS and OS X El Capitan.

It remains to be seen whether Apple would split the OSes between any sub-variants. Chances are also high that Apple would introduce the iPad Pro as a multi-OS running device.

The device is expected to make its debut during the end of third quarter this year.
