Galaxy S6 Active is Rugged and Flashy

It’s not the same scene for smartphone vendors as it has been a few years ago. Clinching the top spot in terms of global sales ensures nothing these days.

That’s why certain bold steps had to be taken even with the case of flagship phones.

While there remained a single exclusive flagship edition for manufacturers earlier, the scenario now is that the market is flush with multiple flagship brands, and even further iterations of it.

They often get materialized in the form of cheaper versions, like the Galaxy Mini versions from Samsung.

However, that alone appears too weak to lure the wider sections of the market; and that could be the reason why Samsung is getting their hands on a novel version of their Galaxy Series.

Launched as Galaxy Active, the new flagship has its target spread along the rough-handlers; users who often deal with rougher environments. Galaxy S6 Active is the sturdy version of its flagship smartphone that was launched at MWC 15.

This one comes with rugged attire, and holds an IP68 rating; the one that transforms it into a dustproof and shock-resistant device. It’s also resistant to water contacts of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, high temperatures, and extreme humidity.

As with the front design, the prime change is the absence of fingerprint sensors, which appeared fused with the home button in Galaxy S6. The sacrifice has been made to adapt physical buttons for the sturdy device.

Samsung hasn’t brought a bigger downgrade with Galaxy Active as you would have expected in terms of the inside specs. The 5.1-inch display packs a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. Coming inside the SoC is a 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor.

It has a 16 MP camera on the rear, while in the is a 5MP shooter. The battery also gets a lift, with the charge capacity now raised to 3500mAh. Other specs and price details haven’t yet been revealed.

The device will make its debut in the markets of North America, where it will be launched in an exclusive tie-up with AT&T. Although the price remains  undisclosed, Samsung has come up with the various installment plans for Galaxy S6 Active that also covers a zero-down payment package.

The device has started sales through AT&T website and via physical stores.
