ZTE Nubia N9 Takes Bezel-less Display Tech to New Heights

May 13, 2015, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Smartphone vendors, at the moment, think it’s the right time to get rid of the bezels from their products. Quite an impossible task it is, but to an extent they are managing to do that by faking bezel-less displays.

The latest to join the line is ZTE, which has crafted the work aptly so as to turn their flagship into a stunning piece.

The Chinese manufacturer launched their upcoming flagship model Nubia N9, which has surpassed all the previous expectations about the bezel-less technology. Certainly, ZTE hasn’t left behind the bezel to pull the trick.

Instead, they have opted for a 0.8mm thick reflective bezel, by what it is appeared to resemble that of Oppo’s upcoming R8 smartphone. But ZTE has taken it entirely from here and features an edge to edge display that’s certain to grab eyeballs.

Nubia 9 will feature FIT, the gesture system dedicated to the bezel space. Various gestures of your finger on the edge area would have various actions carried out on your device, like capturing screenshots, screen brightness adjustments and instant camera access.

The gestures sound to be handy for in-app controls as well, when you have your fingers rightly placed on the edge space.

As with the spec sheet, Nubia N9 features a 5.2 inch Full HD display, under which will be the Snapdragon 810 SoC that powers the device. Three editions of the device will be up for grabs that will decide the RAM and storage availability in it.

The Classic edition will hand you with an in-built storage space of 32 GB that will be accompanied by a RAM of 3GB. The other two editions-Elite and Exclusive – are overhauled with the options for 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage space.

The 16 MP camera on the rear comes with f/2.0 lens and optical stabilization and offers no bump to the glossy metallic surface on its rear.

The front cam is an 8MP Sony-powered shooter. All these in the device are powered by a 2900 mAh battery. The Exclusive edition will also be featuring a finger print sensor technology, which the company calls as TIO.

The variants have started ipre-orders on China, and are available at prices of CNY 3,499 ($564) for classic edition, CNY 3,999 ($645) for Elite edition and CNY 4,499($725) for the high-end Exclusive edition.

Nubia N9 will go on sale by May 21st, and as of now, there is no word of the global launch of this bezel-less flagship.
