South Africa crushed Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the quarter-finals to cruise into the semi-finals of the World cup 2015.

After winning the toss, Angelow Mathews had no hesitation to choose batting first as Sri Lanka is taking on South Africa in the quarter final of ICC Cricket World Cup on March 18, 2015. The match is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.

But the decision to bat first has turned to a nightmare for the islanders as they have lost nine wickets before reaching the 150 mark.

As per latest reports, Sri Lanka have scored just 127 runs with the loss of nine wickets in 36.2 overs. Lasith Malinga (0) and Dushmantha Chameera (0) are batting for Sri Lanka now.

Lahiru Thirimanne and Kumar Sangakkara were the only two Sri Lankan batsmen who showed some fighting spirit. Thirimanne scored 41 runs off 48 balls, while Sangakkara scored 45 off 96.

It was Imran Tahir who broke the spinal cord of the Sri Lankan batting lineup. In his spell of eight overs, he conceded just 26 runs, and picked the crucial wickets of Thirimanne, Mahela Jayawardane and Thisara Perera.

Another major highlight of this match is the hat trick of J P Duminy. The part time bowler picked the wickets of Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekhara and T Kaushal to mark his first consecutive balls three wicket haul in his career.
