The South African team majorly depends on the batting form of AB de Villiers, and the skipper has proved his mettle many times in this tournament.

AB de Villier’s form will prove costly when they play the quarter final against Sri Lanka. The pitch in Sydney is expected to support the spin bowlers, and apart from AB de, no other South African batsmen have proved their expertise in playing spin so well.

Sri Lanka on the other side is a well balanced side, and they have a stabilized batting and bowling department which can tear down even the mightiest side in World Cricket.

The trump card of the side is Kumar Sangakkara who is in top form even in the latter part of his career.

The wicket keeper batsman have scored four back to back centuries in the tournament, and he will be hoping to make it five as he face the South African bowling led by Dale Steyn.

Mahela Jayawardane, another king pin in the Sri Lankan batting line up has a very poor success rate when he plays against South Africa.

He averages 22.9 in the 42 ODI innings he has played against South Africa, and this is his second lowest against the 18 International teams he has faced.

The second quarter-final match will be played between India vs Bangladesh on March 19, 2015.
