The biggest gala of the cricketing arena has begun in Australia. As curtains go up  on the World Cup 2015, as many as 14 teams are battling it out across 14 venues spread across Australia and New Zealand to get their hands on the trophy.

The road to the finals for each team would be depending heavily on the fixtures they need to play upon reaching the knockouts.

The 11th edition of Cricket World Cup will be taking place in a shape similar to the previous year’s format. With the fourteen nations split in two groups, the group stage match will be played in the round-robin format in which each team will be handed with six games.

And as like in the previous edition, the group leaders will be facing the fourth placed from the opposite group, and group runner ups will be facing the third placed team of the other group.

Host nations Australia and New Zealand have been placed in Group A, which also includes England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Scotland. See the complete fixtures with date and time here.

The remaining nations of South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and the UAE will make the Group B.

The knock-outs will begin by March 18th, with leaders of Group A taking on the fourth placed team from Group B at Sydney. Melbourne, Adelaide and Wellington will host the quarter finals taking place on the following days. the live streaming online can be watched on starsports.com.

Winners of the quarter finals will be meeting for the semis, which will be hosted by Auckland and Sydney on March 24th and 26th respectively. Follow world cup live score here.

The event will be coming to an end with the final that will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 29th. All matches, except for some in the group matches,  will be played under the floodlights, and that includes the final.
