UCWeb Joins Hands with internet.org to Offer Free Surfing Across Various Websites in India

The Facebook-led internet.org services were launched across various sectors to enable free internet browsing across various sites. Now joining the social networking giants are the developers behind the India’s s largest used mobile browser.

UCWeb has announced that they are honored to be a part of the internet.org services that brings charge-free surfing across various website that offers critical information.

The new tie-up will now bring a new distinct version of the UCWeb browser app that will have direct access to over 30 websites accessible free-of-cost under the internet.org scheme.


Kenny Ye, Managing Director of UCWeb India, has said that, with the announcement that the initiative will increase the internet usage across the country substantially and will also help the users to be aware of the world around them.

The app will be distinct , while the flagship version of UCWeb will continue running the way it does now. The dedicated version, however, will not skip any features from the original one and will include services like smart downloading, auto re-connection, incognito browsing, night mode, video gesture control, custom themes and the like.

Launched with an aim to offer internet services to over 60% of the world still deprived of the internet, internet.org services have been brought to India by way of a tie up with Reliance Networks for giving free access to over 30 websites, including Facebook.

The services have been initially launched for Reliance subscribers across six sectors of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana and Kerala.

The accessible list of websites includes Times of India, Aaj Tak, ESPN Cricinfo, IBN Live, Hungama Music, Wikipedia and many more. Although accessible via mobile browsers, a separate app has also been launched for offering direct access to free websites under the same name for Android users.
