Avegant Glyph Headset Unveiled at CES; Takes VR to an Entire New Dimension

January 8, 2015, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It’s not quite often a certainty that the CES debuted products may enter full-sale stage production as soon as they are shown off. There are some that take years to take the flight, while some others never see the light of the day.

But that won’t be the case with Avegant, with whom things have been taking shape quite rapidly. The Kickstarter campaign which brought its Glyph VR headset under the limelight was a massive hit. As a response, they had vowed to launch the rig at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015. And here we are now, with the manufacturer coming up with the final design of its dream product.

Glyph VR headset is the new stepping stone into the world of Virtual Reality. For, it doesn’t just bring the display on to the glasses you wear, but right on your eyes. Conventional techniques of projecting upon glasses have been entirely shed, and this one ropes in the virtual retinal display that projects images on your eyes. And that’s the best part of it too.

VR headsets are often a mess to wear, for it requires the sunglass part of your or an LCD screen to be housed in front of your eyes. But that won’t be the case with Glyph VR.

Though essentially taking its form as a VR headset, Glyph appears to be just a funky headset. What does the rest is the micro-mirror display technology that aims to bring the audio, video, and gaming experiences to an ushering new dimension.

Ultra-high quality images will be displayed, which comes engulfed within the headband of the device. One would just have to tilt the headphone so that the headband covers the eyes. The eyepieces can also be covered under a plastic wrap when you are not in the mood to enjoy the visuals.

Consumers who had the trials of their new VR headset has also praised for the imagery qualities it has been yielding, which certainly means we sure have a rising competitor to the rest in the VR technology.

What makes it even more exciting is the announcement of its release date. Avegant has said that the device will be making its way to the public by the fall of 2015. The pricing of the device has been fixed at $599.

It has also started acquiring the pre-orders for the Glyph headset, which will give you the discount of hundred dollars if done before January 15th.
