At its space in the consumer trade expo at Las Vegas, Asus has launched two new smartphones that come under the Zenfone series. Zenfone 2 and Zenfone Zoom are the two new Android devices whose wraps have been pulled off by the Taiwanese manufacturers.

Zenfone 2 is the successor to the initial wave of smartphones released under the brand name. It’s certainly not the second in the Zenfone series and the 2 implies the second generation of the Asus Zenfone series.

Zenfone 2 has undergone a slight makeover from its predecessors by bringing in a curvy and slim design. The 5.5 inch smartphone yields a display resolution of 1080×1920 at 403 ppi pixel density.

Powering the tech specs are the quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom processor Z358 clocked at 2.3 GHz and a mammoth 4 GB RAM. A 13 MP ‘Pixelmaster’ camera takes place of the primary rear cam while the front cam is powered by a 5 MP shooter, each with f/2.0 aperture.

The phone comes with connectivity features like NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies. Juicing up the device is a 3000 mAh battery and will be running on the Android L OS. Asus will also be offering a 2 GB variant for Zenfone 2, with storage option being split along 16, 32 and 64 GB options.

The smartphone will be available in various shades of Ceramic White, Glacier Gray, Glamour Red, Osmium Black, and Sheer Gold and will have its pricing set at $199 and above.

Meanwhile, the Zenfone Zoom is powered by similar tech-specs as in Zenfone 2 under, except that changes have been induced to its camera front for being friendlier for photo-shoots. The one in Zenfone 2 gets replaced by a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.7 to 4.8-aperture in Zenfone Zoom and will also feature 10-element lenses for 3x optical zoom.

It will also offer camera specific features like optical image stabilization, dual-color Real Tone flash and laser auto-focus alongside the Pixelmaster features. It will also offer an added storage space of 128 GB. There is no word on its pricing however.
