CES Debut Likely for Samsung Galaxy 6; Complete Design Overhaul Rumored

December 29, 2014, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It looks like the new flagship model from the Samsung Galaxy series would in some way or the other admit the failure of its predecessor.

Rumors are that Galaxy S6 will be bringing in a fresh makeover to the model, by shedding the conventional plastic approach Samsung had been holding on to its models until the S5 came along.

Despite having a higher edge in tech-specs over its precursor, Galaxy S5 failed to make an impact in the tech-world and its failure also became apparent from the tedious sales it had.

Much of the criticism was on its design, which at the time had become habitual for Samsung. But Samsung sure now appears to have taken down the notes from the lukewarm reception it got with the S5 model.

We hear that Samsung is gearing up for an early debut for the flagship model at CES and it will not be just one, but two flagship devices that would be heading to restore some pride.

While it’s a 5.5 inch Galaxy S6 that is being widely rumored, news is that a 5.3 inch smartphone is also in the works; just like they turned it around with the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge models.

The 5.5 inch model, codenamed SM-G430, is to feature a Full HD resolution with a Snapdragon 801 SoC, packing 3 GB RAM. That’s certainly not to lead the flagship series as an absence of QHD display and the presence of a slightly overused 801 chipset would only drag it down to the range of an upper mid-range phone. But that’s not the case with the other flagship put in line by Samsung.

With designs resembling the Note Edge, the premier flagship from Samsung will be packing a 5.3 inch screen, QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, 4 GB RAM and a Snapdragon 810 chipset.

However these don’t appear to be confirmed as Antutu Benchmarks have earlier listed a Galaxy S6 device with 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, Mali-T760 GPU and 3GB RAM.

With the tech-specs still under shadows, rumors do stand united for the makeover embraced by Samsung for the Galaxy S6 smartphone. The flagship will be leaving behind the plastic body for a full-metallic casing  – though with a plastic body in its front.

And it’s not the customary plastic body that would be fitting in the Galaxy S6. For the first time in its history, Samsung will be bringing a multi-colored bezel. Latest leaks display the images of Galaxy S6 with a vivid Yellow plastic body in its front.

Rumors earlier were that the Galaxy S6 smartphone will be making its debut later at the Mobile World Congress in 2015.

But it seems like there is not enough room for patience in the minds of the South Korean manufacturer. The Galaxy S6 smartphone is now been tipped to be unwrapped at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, 2015.
