Australia will be meeting India yet again for the Boxing Day match at Melbourne on December 26th. The two teams are now standing wide apart, and anything less than a win for India would ensure a home team victory in the Commonwealth Bank series.

India requires a win if they are to create chances for retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Despite putting up a decent score in the first innings of the previous two tests, India failed to carry on the same in their second innings.

A down the order change would be eyed by the skipper before heading out to the ground in Melbourne.

Chances are that Suresh Raina may be making his way in as a replacement for Rohit Sharma. It also needs to be seen whether India would be sticking with the same bowling options as in Brisbane.

Ravichandra Aswhin barely impressed with his spell, which may force Dhoni to bring back Karn Sharma to the squad, or all-round spinners like Akshar Patel, who replaced an injured Ravindra Jadeja in the squad.

Indian pace attack will be led by Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, however there may be a possibility that Varun Aaron will be eased out in favor of Mohammad Shami.

Despite running on high confidence levels, Australia might also have some concerns as their worries are now with regard to the injuries. The practice session has witnessed some injury moments with Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh and it’s unclear whether those were severe ones.

The 25 year old Joe Burns is likely to be handed with his maiden cap in Test matches and will be replacing Mitchell Marsh in the line-up.

The visiting team will be playing their twelfth match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, from which they have recorded only two victories till now. India has lost eight times at the MCG and their last win here was in 1981.

With the series now standing at 2-0 in favor of the home team, India would be desperate to improve their stats in the venue to push the series to the final game at Sydney.
