Ever since Jean Claude Biver spoke against Apple Watch, there has been plenty of talk the about Swiss firm LVMH taking on the Cupertino-based technology behemoth with a smartwatch.

It has been hearsay for long. But not anymore.

LVMH’s most prominent brand in the watch industry, Tag Heuer, is now stepping on to the smartwatch platform, with an official confirmation now arriving from their CEO.

Addressing the Press at their headquarters in western Switzerland, Jean Claude Biver said that work on a smartwatch had been underway for about four months and is now awaiting acquisitions.

It is rumored that Tag Heuer has been rubbing shoulders with Google and Intel to come up with their prime smartwatch.

However, the smartwatch being in line against Google’s and Apple’s similar efforts, it is most likely that Intel processors might be roped in.

Biver also said that he would come up with the final product only after fulfilling their aim of making it “different and unique”, which pushes the date of its official debut to the later months of 2015.

The smartwatch has also been rumored to incorporate a mechanical design and action to drift away from the tracks laid by the earlier ones.

If launched next year, Tag Heuer’s smartwatch will have a direct confrontation with Apple Watch, which is scheduled for release in early 2015.

And, it’s to be noted that the spat had already been ignited by Biver who labeled the Apple Watch with a ‘feminine’ tagline four months ago.
