Chinese manufacturer Oppo has been in the limelight for quite some time with its R5 smartphone, the world’s slimmest phone. But now it’s stepping aside to make way for another vendor from its own homeland.

Vivo’s X5Max smartphone has pipped Oppo R5 for the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone. The smartphone, which measures 4.75 mm in thickness, is now the slimmest smartphone you could drop in your pocket, outpacing their rivals by just .5 mm.

While smartphone manufacturers are forced to make some compromises to keep their phones thin, Vivo has stayed clear of such measures.

As a result there are some slightly disturbing spots on its build despite the slim design. One of these is in the rear side where we can see a bump, which has been incorporated to accommodate the protruding lens.

It also feels quite bumpy at the bottom with the 3.5mm jack. But it’s worth appreciating that they have managed to find a spot for it, as many among the rest have opted to do away with it to keep their smartphones thin.

Moving on to the hardware, the X5Max is not too slim inside and has packed some bulky stuff. With a 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 615 processor, the device offers Full HD display to its 5.5 inch screen and is boosted by 2GB RAM.

Primary camera offers snaps by a 13MP shooter while the front cam is of 5MP.The Android device also offers 16 GB on-board storage and, against all odds, it comes with an expandable storage slot.

Vivo X5 Max smartphone is currently available in India and China and the price is said to be $525. It is expected to cross boundaries and reach the US shores in the near future.
