Oppo Gears Up for Christmas with Thinnest Smartphone; R5 to hit Stores by December End

Back in October, Chinese manufacturers Oppo unveiled their thinnest smartphone till date. And after two months of uncertainty, the R5 smartphone is now finally ready to reach Indian shores before the year marks an end; better late than never.

Oppo has announced that the R5 LTE  smartphone will be released in the Indian markets by the end of this month, with the pricing expected to be within INR 30,000.

Measuring only 4.85 mm, it is claimed by many as the thinnest not just from the house of Oppo, but even in the entire smartphone industry.

Alongside the slim factor, it also brings catchy features like VOOC charging technology, which can hike your battery charge to up to 75% in under 30 minutes.

R5 smartphone features a 5.2-inch full-HD AMOLED display, which brags a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Inside, we have the R5 being powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core chipset, which is packed with the 64 bit processing technology.

It also packs high-end specs in the memory front with a 2GB RAM and graphics is brought to staggering degrees by the Adreno 405 GPU.

The absence of a micro SD slot will confine the storage limits to the 16 GB on-board space.

There’s a 13 MP rear cam and a 5MP front cam.  However, it takes a dip in battery with the 2000 mAH Li-Po battery which obviously seems inadequate for the high-end specs.

Oppo R5 will be running the Color OS version 2.0, a customized version based on the Android KitKat OS. Pricing has not yet been revealed, but assumptions are that it will fall within a price range of INR 25,000-30,000.
