October 8, 2014, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Introduced to the masses as the simple note-taking app, Evernote is now leaping to achieve greater heights. At the Evernote’s Developer conference held in San Francisco, CEO Phil Libin announced two new features that would expand Evernote to be an enhanced workspace.

Context and Work Chat are the two new features that have been explained by Libin for opening up the wings of expansion for the note-keeping app. Also announced are a couple of new apps that could get featured in the coming weeks –  Scannable and Penultimate.

Context is all about sorting out the materials that purely works on the basis of context you provide. Information would be provided on basis of the LinkedIn profile, contacts, previous notes and much more and could be retrieved by the user that could be materialized for their work. It would be made available for those who sign up with the premium pack of Evernote.

Work Chat is the collaboration tool that has been developed with an aim to bring down email usage among the workers and to further enhance the collaboration within the workers. The window within the chat application would allow workers to skip the need for running through Windows in their email application.

Penultimate will be the refreshed face of the previous tablet sketch app and has also been redesigned to be more simple and stylish.

Scannable, the document scanning app to be released this year would provide users with the ease of scanning various documents on the go. Documents would be categorized within the app and can be scanned without the use of the camera button.

Apart from these, the new Evernote Web Client also has been featured in the event. Made to appear cleaner and modern, the Web Client will be set with an aim for eliminating distraction for writing the notes.

Libin has also thrown light on the progress of Evernote Market, an online window that allows shopping for Evernote goodies.
