Hamster Wheel Standing Desk Lets You Stay Fit as You Work

The last thing you want to be bothered about when heating up your brain at your workstation would be your fitness. Forget about being fit, the static work atmosphere may not even let you feel rejuvenated whatever you do.

That’s exactly what Robb Godshaw of Autodesk’s Pier 9 complies with, and now he has  come up with a new artistic piece of invention.

For him, standing proves much more beneficial than being seated. Keep yourselves walking and that’s even better – that’s what he feels.

Hamster Wheel Standing Desk, as the innovation is called, keeps you do exactly the same. This spinning wheel would keep you strolling even when you deal with your hectic tasks at your desks.

It’s the collaboration of Artist-in-Residence Robb Godshaw and Instructables Developer Will Doenlen at Pier 9 that would now make employees keep walk and work at the same time. For the ones behind this standing desk, all it took is just a day to come up with this novelty stuff.

It’s an 80-inch measuring wheel that lets you place your foot on it so that it keeps rolling with each step. What keeps it rolling is the set of four skateboard wheels that are attached to the base that measures 24 inches in width.

Mount these with the help of wood screws, plywood, pipes and glue and you have the Hamster Wheel walking desk. It’s just as simple as that.

It gives you the feel of sauntering in a circular treadmill.  So stay fit as you work from now on.
