If there is a photography mode that has escalated to the top, that surely would be the painless photography mode of ‘selfies’. The current age has held the quicker self portrait imagery high with even coining of the term getting into online version of Oxford dictionary. Spreading like an epidemic, the rampant phenomenon is obviously being capitalized by modern day image capturing devices.

The number of people who get hold of cameras to click selfies have grown.  And with that, a wide range of cameras with dedicated selfie features have started arriving.

The most recent addition to that group comes from the house of Olympus. Christened PEN E-PL7, it intends to charm selfie addicts.

Having said that, let’s also tell you that you may not want to ignore this micro four thirds camera even if you don’t fall under the section of selfie fanatics.

The E-PL7 would sure prove its worth even with the selfie hating people out there. The selfie option would remain a dedicated feature, and wouldn’t cause the slightest disturbance in case you want to keep a distance from it.

The 16.05-megapixel camera brings along a 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens in its kit. Claiming to be the fastest autofocus you may have ever come across on any Olympus device, the E-PL 7 features the 3-axis image stabilization carried forward from the OM-D E-M10.

Yielding 81 AF points, the camera also packs in more features that would let you capture the frames in various modes.

The 3-inch display featuring 1.04 million-dot touch-screen could prove to be a delight for the selfie enthusiasts. The display which fits in the back like in any camera can be flipped down to make it enter into the selfie mode.

The shutter button appearing on the display facing the photographer could be used to snap the selfies and also offers the option of setting various time intervals.

An in-built flash has failed to find its place in this rig, but Olympus has announced that external flash would be made available with the PEN E-PL7. Along with the connectivity over Wi-Fi, the E-PL7 could also be paired up with your smartphones by means of QR code scanning.

Priced at $599.99, the PEN E-PL7 would commence sales by end of September. Bundled inside the pack along with the external flash would be a leather case, underwater housing and much more optional accessories.
