Star Sports live streaming India vs England 4th Test with Highlights Videos

August 8, 2014, By S Ranjita

Surprising to everyone, the home team’s Stuart Broad took six wickets as India was bowled out for a disappointing score of 152 on the first day of the 4th test against England at Old Trafford being played from August 7.

At position when India was 8 at the loss of four wickets, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to the rescue and offered that good knock of 71.

Precisely, this is the worst start for a test on the ground, despite Dhoni winning the toss and electing to bat.

Undoubtedly the star for the 1st day was Broad who managed to get six major wickets for just 25 runs in less than 24 overs. Not very behind is James Anderson who took three wickets for 46 in just 14 overs.

The visiting Indians were clearly worth all the criticism, except for Dhoni. The other two batsmen who managed to score the double digit runs are Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane at 40 and 24 respectively.

The first one to go was Gautam Gambhir, who came in as a replacement to Shikhar Dhawan, but was quickly taken by Joe Root on Stuart’s ball.

Both Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli had to leave at ducks, especially with Anderson coming back in form in the least time.

Cheteshwar Pujara was caught in the slips by Jordan, again on a ball by Broad. That brought down India 8 for 4 wickets in just six overs.

Although limited, but Rahane and Dhoni did their job of repairs and built a partnership of 54. Rahane left soon after, with a catch to Bell at second slip, by Jordan.

Ashwin offered some help to Dhoni, but was soon caught at the deep on Broad’s over. Not surprisingly, the rest team was out within 47 overs, leaving the score at 152.

For England, Sam Robson left early, taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Cook was taken next by Aaron. Ballance worked well with Bell to a good extent, before he was taken for a lbw by Aaron.
