HTC Smartwatch Shows Up in Video; Company Stops Short of Confirming the Existence of Such a Device

We have already seen Sony, Motorola, Samsung, LG and many others hold aloft their smart watches. It now looks like HTC too is joining the fray with its own version of the wearable rig.

The info needs to be attributed to a leak that came about a while ago. A device surface in a HTC “behind the scene” video showed employees working on a smartwatch.

The wearable device was spotted on the desk of an employee who was immersed in work unmindful of the future speculations the video would trigger.

However, as soon as the video went public, HTC released an official clarification saying that the company encourages its design team to explore and tinker with new ideas and even models, as is the case with the watch which was noticed in the video.

The company went on to say that that the video in no way indicated an actual product from HTC and that customers need to keep watching for exciting new products from HTC “when they are ready to be announced”.

The statement does hint towards plans of a possible release of a new smart watch model. However, it also needs  to be acknowledged that it in no way gives a confirmation on whether a smart watch is actually coming .

If it does, the HTC smartwatch is most likely to run on a modified version of Android Wear OS, which has already made a mark on smartwatches from Samsung and LG.
