Ajinkya Rihane scores century:

On the first day after India won the toss and batted first, fulfilling his career’s main objective, Ajinkya Rihane was able to sustain India’s pride by playing a splendid knock in the first innings against England.

Rihane’s 105 came just 15 minutes prior to his own dismissal by Anderson. Anderson is famous for giving his side the breakthrough they have always needed. Once again he did the trick for England.

For Rihane it seemed to be a perfect end to a spectacular innings that he played on crease exactly when his side needed it.

By the end of the day, England was quite disheartened with the fact that they could not bowl out team India completely. Stuart Broad’s gestures showed exactly what England was feeling then.

One of the most uncommon day on the Lord’s ground, the grass was greener than it ever had been, India played some excellent cricket than it did in the first match at Trent Bridge and of course Rihane’s amazing 100, things which were not at all expected actually happened.

Though England’s star bowler, Anderson also bowled extremely well, it was just not his day. The bowler bowled with all his might, 4-55 which is a very good score considering the pitch.

To Anderson’s rescue came Ben Stokes, who although bowled a little short than the length required, but he strove to adjust and restrain the Indian team as much as possible.

Pujara, Jadeja and the others tried to take the bowl for a long run but could not succeed. Anderson had an answer to all these batsmen.

Just after Rihane started sending Anderson’s balls to the boundary one after the other did it seem that India still had the capacity to survive and the valour to win.

The last time the Indian team were at the Lord’s stadium they had to stand there ashamed of the massive defeat that they had incurred. They lost the series 4-0.

By the end of the day India were 290-9 and the hero of the day was out rightly Ajinkya Rihane.
