For those who are looking ahead for the release will have to check the model on e-Commerce retailer Flipkart, which will be selling the handsets exclusively in India. Xiaomi has taken the cue from Motorola it seems, which also launched Moto E, Moto G and Moto X via Flipkart.

Earlier this month, Xiomi had opened a website for India and will be looking to make a strong start in India, which is known to be tough and fierce for new manufacturers.

With headquarters in Beijing, Xiomi was founded by entrepreneur Lei Jun and is one of the biggest companies in China for smartphones and other consumer items.

Apart from the Indian and other companies, the newcomer will have to compete with China based manufacturers in India like ZTE, Lenovo, Huawei, Gionee and the new Oppo.

In India, Manu Kumar, who is the co-founder of Jabong e-retail, will head the operations for Xiomi. The company had also launched its phones in Singapore, as well.

The market for Indian smartphones is tough with many international players, who are trying hard to match up with Indian firms like Micromax and Karbonn, who mostly work on low priced models.

More details on the phone are awaited!
