It is reported that floodlights will be used if the light fades during the evening. In the first ODI which was a day game, floodlights weren’t used and Sri Lanka struggled a touch in the evening under fading light. The weather at Hambantota for this 3rd ODI is predicted to be good for a full game of cricket.

The momentum in the series now seems to be with Sri Lanka following their crushing 87-run win in the 2nd ODI at Pallekele.

South Africa chasing 268 were crumbled for 180 all out despite a century from opener Hashim Amla. In the first ODI at Colombo, Sri Lanka had lost by 75 runs. The margins of defeats for both the teams so far have been big because of the batting collapses.

What one can tell from the two ODIs so far is that both Sri Lanka and South Africa have lost matches which they should have won comfortably.

In the first ODI, Sri Lanka were in a good position to chase down 304 but no batsman could give the much needed support to Kumar Sangakkara.

In the second ODI, South Africa didn’t have a massive total to chase and yet the game slipped away from them with their last eight wickets going down for 79 runs.

As far as the team news is concerned, Thisara Perera could come in for off-spinning all-rounder Ashan Priyaranjan which could be the only possible change for Sri Lanka.

South Africa will have to wait for Dale Steyn to pass a fitness test but reports are that the fast bowler is more than likely to play.
