Ind vs Eng 1st Test day 2: Cricket live score, streaming info and highlights

July 10, 2014, By M Sohini

Presenting a splendid day of play, India was 259 with the loss of four wickets after 90 overs on day 1 of the first Test match against England.

Shikhar Dhawan gave India a start they were looking for and India was 106 for 1 before lunch. Anderson, who has taken more test wickets at the Trent Bridge than any other bowler gave England the breakthrough they were looking for, restoring India at 107 for 3.

After winning the toss, MS Dhoni opted to bat first, considering setting a huge target and trying to pull down team England by an innings would be just what they needed.

Though there were some disturbances with sudden loss of wickets after lunch, Murali Vijay’s maiden overseas test hundred took India to a smashing 259 runs target.

Together the Indian Captain, MS Dhoni, exactly at 50 not out and Murali Vijay, not out at 122 summed up a partnership of 81 runs for the fifth wicket. By the end of the day, team India stabilised and overcame the pressure they faced by Anderson’s attack.

The trick for England on the very first day was done by their star bowler, Anderson who was helped by his fellow teammates, Stuart Broad, Ben Stokes, Liam Plunkett, Moeen Ali and Joe Root. They all did a good job restricting the men in blue to reach a difficult target right in the beginning.
