Asustek Wearable Device Likely this Year; Could be a Smart Watch

If plans go good, we might get to see Asustek bringing in its first wearable device. Most likely to be a smart watch, the upcoming device could take on two giants, Sony and Samsung on that terrain.

This piece of info wa revealed by none other than Jonney Shih , Chairman of Asustek, at the Taiwanese PC maker’s year-end party.

The company in fact sees many challenges in the area,  and he said that the new wearable device from Asustek should be available for consumers this year itself.

If you would remember, the Taipei-based company had told investors during last November 13 about the plans to launch a wearable device.  It is likely to debut at the  Computex Taipei trade fair in June.

The wearable device market has the potential of reaching up to US$20.6 billion by 2018 on worldwide shipments of 191 million units, as per the estimates of Taiwan’s Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center.
