January 8, 2014, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Cat, a brand famous for construction equipment, along with Bullit Mobile has added a rather different and new feature to the smart phone concept. They have, in fact, added the phone to the list of workplace mobile devices that can be used at workplace. So look out for the new Cat B100 at the CES venue.

The Cat B100 comes with 2.2-inch 240×320 resolution screen, which may not be high as per today’s standards. But then,  it can survive a 1.8m (5.9 feet) drop, submergence up to 1m (3.2 feet) of water for 30 minutes, and can operate in temperatures ranging between -25C and 55C.

The ruggedized candybar styling  comes with large buttons that intends to allow users to dial without removing their gloves, and its loudspeaker and noise-canceling microphone will help those who are working on construction sites or other loud environments.

The IP67 and MIL SPEC 810G-certified device comes with a rear-mounted 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, FM radio, Micro SD card storage expansion, and a 1,150mAh battery which offers up to 23 days of standby and 10 hours of talk time.

Cat will soon make this one available in Europe, but the prices have not been revealed yet. The company says it will also be available in other countries within the first half of 2014.
