Google and Audi to Bring You Android-Driven Smart Cars

December 31, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

After smartphones and smart-toys, it is the turn of smart cars!

Car controls are all set to get even easier as Android is about to assist you from your dashboard. And how will this happen?

Google and Audi are expected to announce their Android in-car feature at CES the coming week.

The Android OS inside will power the in-car entertainment systems in Audis and that are what will be unveiled at CES 2014.

So instead of using your smartphones, the Android controller will be installed in the hardware of the vehicle. This means Android will capture everyone, even Apple and Windows users.

And, as this software is built inside hardware, Nvidia is in too. With Nvidia, the visual experience of navigation, entertainment and communication will go smoothly.

Audi also recently announced LTE on certain models, which means the levels of connectivity will be even better than those offered by mobiles.

Though this is a visible step, smart cars have been planned for some time now. With Apple already installing iOS in many cars, Google obviously couldn’t wait for more. Hyundai and Kia are also set to unveil Android in-car by the end of 2013.
