Ascend Mate 2 Surfaces in the Wild; Shows Off 6.1-inch Display

November 25, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The web space has been rife with rumors of a new Ascend phablet in the making. The tablet which goes by the name Mate 2, however, hasn’t given us much to discuss about for long, ever since its first buzz.

It was in August that the pictures of the device’s purported front glass came out in the open, after having surfaced in the wild.

The latest we have here is info that have broken ground – also in the form of a leak.

The leak talks about a 6.1-inch IPS display, at 1080p resolution, being part of the device that is soon to come.

It is also being said that the Mate 2 from Ascend will come sporting similar spces as the ones we have already seen in leak info of another upcoming rig – the Ascend P6S.

SO what we would have in the Mate 2 will be HiSilicon’s Kirin910 chipset, complete with a 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-450 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Internal storage will boast 16GB , while the OS will be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The company will also throw in the latest version of Emotion UI.

We need to wait to know when it would actually come and for what price it would sell for. Going by previous experience, Ascend doesn’t affix hefty price tags on its devices, and so we need to believe this one would also be wallet friendly.

Let’s wait to hear from the company.
