Parkopedia to Address Your Parking Woes

November 21, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Parkopedia is the new in thing, the ultimate saver of car owners. This service will help car drivers to find parking lots.

It also will give the user live space availability and pricing details either through an app or via internet.

Recently, the developers announced that their application has been selected to give “in-dash” parking information, especially for Volvo’s automotive products.

However, earlier this year, Parkopedia made its presence felt, but not much information was revealed on how it would work. However, Volvo simultaneously announced that it would offer Sensus Connected Touch interface in its vehicles.

This works via an Android-powered infotainment system, on the Parrot Asteroid platform, and uses third party Asteroid Market filled along with car centric apps.

Parkopedia will be available in the market soon. Folks at CNET say this might mean that Volvo users will gain access to Parkopedia’s information, which covers more than 28 million parking spaces in 40 countries just by installing an app on their Connected Touch receiver via Volvo.

However, interestingly, so far Parkopedia has not mentioned the availability of their services in Volvo integration. The Connected Touch system is already available for the current Volvo models, which has been out since 2011.

So the possibility of seeing parking data in Volvo dashboards is very high, that too very soon.
