iRobot Roomba Relaunched with Advanced Technology

iRobot has updated its popular robotic Roomba vacuum cleaner. The new version is more powerful and requires only low maintenance.

The Bedford, mass-based maker of robots, unveiled its Roomba 800 model, flaunting its new vacuum technology. These devices have done away with brushes that get knotted up with hair and eventually get clogged.

Colin Angle, CEO of iRobot says the new technology, is an important invention for vacuuming. iRobot’s Roomba involves filing 12 new patents around its new technology.


The changes are the biggest technology innovation to the Roomba, which has sold off more than 10 million units in the past decade.

Roomba 800 models are equipped with grooved rollers that are capable of removing up to 50% more debris and have five times the suction power. It can also hold 60% more dirt in their storage bin.
