As you might have heard, Valve will be shipping only 300 prototype version of its first Steam Machine later this year.
The latest piece of info we stumbled upon says the Steam machine will be highly powerful and will come with high-end hardware specs.
The maker of blockbuster games, like Portal and Half-Life, has also revealed a bunch of details about its upcoming prototype.
According to Valve, their Steam Machine will be totally upgradeable, so that any user can swap out the hard drive, GPU, CPU and even the motherboard. Well, at least a few will be surely going to try this.
Moreover, anyone can build a similar device by purchasing the components and assembling them themselves. Valve will also share the source CAD files for its Steam Machine enclosure, in case any one wants to replicate the design.
Valve has also made it clear that the Steam machines will be made by different companies. And, therefore the hardware spec of the machines will differ from their prototype model.
Though Valve has not confirmed its price, the Steam Machines will be available for sales from next year. In case you haven’t checked it out, here is a list of the specs that will power this pretty damn powerful prototype.
