If you have a school or college going kid at home, you may know that they have to deal with lot of issues like internet streaming, handling their massive amount of documents and much more.

And, the most important props they look for are a few gadgets. Let’s try and look at a few tech devices that students would vouch for. All of these devices we have for you here come under the sub-$100 category, so that you can afford it.

Internet streaming  is a must process for a student. The Roku 3 is one of the best Internet media boxes, especially for students who can’t afford a high price net bill.

Roku 1

It’s an excellent interface and has a faster processor that helps it to give a quicker response than any other streaming box available on the market. Besides its lightning-fast performance, it also supports tons of content sources and includes more than 750 channels including Netflix, HBO Go, Pandora, Amazon Cloud Player, Hulu Plus and Vudu.

Further, its new remote comes with a built-in headphone jack that allows users to listen without disturbing others.

However, one of the biggest disadvantages in the Roku is that it doesn’t support iTunes and YouTube. A few services on Roku have an outdated interface too.

If you are an Apple fan, Apple TV is another product you can get under $100. It lets you stream all the video content including iTunes, Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu Plus and MLB TV along with many other online media services.

You can also stream videos, music and photos from any iOS devices using Airplay. Although the Apple TV offers more, it promises less content sources. In other words, the Apple TV is made for those, who own other Apple devices.

Smartphones and tablets are considered as an alternative to e-readers, but a few people still prefer e-readers as they have a long-lasting battery and paper-like screen.

Amazon’s Kindle 2012 is one such device available for just $69. This entry level Amazon Kindle is a compact and lightweight e-reader that offers access to a bunch of books, magazines and newspapers through Amazon’s online store.

The device has a crisp e-ink screen and supports Wi-Fi along with a long battery life. Also, it doesn’t support phone calls, emails or texts, so that the student doesn’t get distracted by all these.

Yet another good product is Logitech’s Wireless Solar Keyboard K760, and is for idealistic students as it is eco-friendly and practical to use. They can use it with iPhone, Mac and iPad devices.

This stylish keyboard comes with an integrated solar panel, which can charge the keyboard from any light source, so that you don’t need to replace batteries.

Students need to manage a mountain of data including documents, photos, videos, and music. Although they have cloud storage, surely they need additional backup, and the Seagate Backup Plus is a good pick.

At $89, you can get the Seagate Backup Plus for your kid and it will give additional 1TB of storage. It is fast, flexible and comes with backup software.

So which one is your personal favorite you think your student at home would love?
