Google San Francisco Event on July 24 Could Bring in Something Big

Google appears to be ready to unveil its next generation of Nexus tablets. The company has sent out invites to the media for an event on July 24 to get underway in San Francisco. The event, as per the invite, will be hosted by Sundar Pichai, the head of Android and Chrome at Google.

The invite doesn’t say anything specific, though. However, recent rumors had suggested that Google is prepping a follow-up to its Nexus 7 tablet.

Well, that could be a possibility, because every high end device maker seem to be upgrading their top devices at least once in a year. It looks like Google is also following the same path, by probably releasing the latest version of Nexus 7.

The original Nexus 7 launched in July 2012 with a 7-inch display and a price tag of $293.99. Within a few days it became the best alternative to Apple’s iPad.

However, it could be also possible that Google might be planning an Android update. Last month, we heard rumors suggesting that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is coming our way, but it won’t be a major update.

A few other reports also suggest that the next major update to the mobile OS will be Android 5.0 key Lime Pie. It said that Android 5.0 is set for an October outing, when Google will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of its first Android device.

The event will kicks off at 9 a.m. at Pacific in San Francisco. Don’t go away.
