Verizon Wireless has just sent out an invitation for an event in New York City on July 23rd.  Although the invitation doesn’t reveal anything specific, it suggests that the carrier will unveil the next generation of their most popular family of devices at the event.

In other words, the next generation of Droid smartphones line-up is set to hit the market. Well, you may be wondering what kind of Droid devices could make an appearance at the event. There have been rumors  in the past that a number of Motorola Droid devices are coming to Verizon network.

And these Motorola devices are said to be the successor to the Droid Razr line of devices, which were launched last year.

The expected devices are supposed to be Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini and will be replacing last years Motorola devices named Droid Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD and Razr M.

At the moment we have little information about the specs details and features of these devices. But rumors suggest that all the three devices will be similar to the previous Droid models and would have Kevlar casings.

It is said that the Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx would be sporting a 5-inch 1080p displays and come with 10-megapixel cameras.

In a direct leak from Motorola, the company itself had confirmed that the Droid Ultra would be tough as steel and will be available in a variety of colors.

Another rumor regarding the Droid Maxx suggests that the handset battery will deliver up to two days of juice. All these rumors  suggest that these latest Motorola Droid devices will be tougher devices and are going to make a hit on the market.

On the other side, for Verizon network, it still depends on the iPhone and Galaxy S4 devices to make revenue. Until this time of the year, the network had failed to launch any new high end devices.

Even the widely rumored HTC One device hasn’t yet reached the Verizon network, but they have promised to release the device very soon.

It is also rumored that along with the Droid line of smartphones, Verizon could also unveil the highly anticipated Moto X during the event. The Moto X is said to the customizable phone with Google’s brand name.
