Ford has introduced a US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition of the Mustang GT. The new tribute edition features an exterior design inspired by the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force Thunderbirds. In case you don’t know, the Thunderbirds have been recognized as the fastest multijet flight demonstration team in the world.

This unique Mustang GT from Ford comes with the same red, white and blue paint scheme similar to the design of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft.

The F-16 fighter inspired Mustang GT will be sold at a charity auction at the Experimental Air Association show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on August 1. Benefits from this charity would go towards the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Program. Launched in 1992, this Young Eagle program provides free flights for young people interested in flights.

According to  Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors, in the US Air -Force Thunderbird Edition Mustang they have not only included the recognizable symbols of the US Air Force Thunderbirds, but also offer Ford’s innovative design style along with it.

Every year, Ford introduces a Mustang with a military theme for the big general aviation air show, and Mustang GT is the sixth custom vehicle by Ford for the EAA Young Eagles Auction.

This year’s AirVenture festival will take place from July 29-August 4 at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
