Microsoft has finally released its Office Mobile suite for Apple touch screen devices, making it the first dedicated Office app for iOS devices. From now on, Apple iPhone users can edit and view Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on their smartphones.

The new Office app for Apple iPhones comes sporting the same format that Microsoft Office has following for years together.

The app targets users of Microsoft’s cloud-based service, Office 365. That means a user needs to sign in with an Office 365 account, or else won’t be able to use the program.

For this latest app, Microsoft charges $99.99 for a  year and has thrown in new updates to the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint software. It also offers 20GB of extra cloud storage space in Microsoft’s Cloud SkyDrive service, and provides access to the software in up to five computers.

You can sign in with your account and can have access to any of the documents in Microsoft’s SkyDrive. You can view or edit any existing documents. Also, it lets you create new documents and then save them to your SkyDrive. The app also enables its users to easily email a document from the interface.

The Office Mobile app is currently available for purchase via the App Store in the United States. And, for the rest of the world the app will be available in the near future.  The new app is compatible with the iPad3 and 4, iPhone 4, 4S and 5.
