Just about everyone with a smartphone knows that the QR code is an interactive medium that packs all sorts of information regarding a product, service or even a concert.

Mercedes-Benz has now invented a new use for these QR codes. The automaker believes that QR codes can save human lives, and so it is planning to use QR codes in all its upcoming cars.

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on a system that would help emergency crew to reach victims quickly and safely during a car accident. They are planning to include QR codes in vehicles so that the code can reveal all details of the vehicle.

All you would need is a phone camera scan, so that it helps reach rescue sheets more quickly.

For those unfamiliar with rescue sheets, they are schematic representations that point out the best places to cut the roof off while recovering trapped passengers.

They also show rescue crew the positions of airbags, fuel tanks, gas generators, gas bottles and other structural reinforcements such as batteries, control points, seat belt tensioners and gas-filled springs.

According to Mercedes-Benz, two stickers will be placed in its vehicles, one under the fuel tank flap and the second one on the B-pillar on the opposite side.

Well, we think this is a great idea aimed at reducing rescue times and help accident victims. It would also help eliminate the risk of cutting wires and fuel lines. What do you think?
