Nokia EOS Spotted in Leak; Touts 41 MP PureView Camera

Nokia seems to be up for something big. News of a 41 megapixel PureView camera-sporting handset from the Finnish phonemaker’s stables is now making the rounds.

We aren’t quite sure if this is just a rumor, but folks at BGR have cited leaks to say that such a device codenamed EOS is incoming. A sneak peek by a WMPoweruser reader into what looks like the device in question adds to the speculation.

Going by the leak, the device is a polycarbonate rig which looks like an upgrade to the Lumia 920.  However, the form factor shows that the device is highly tapered at both ends giving the impression of a much slimmer device.

A small LED is seated next to the flash which may be a focus-assist light. The flash and lens are smaller, compared with the Nokia 808 Pureview. An automatic cover for the lens that opens when camera app starts is an added feature.

A new camera app called “Nokia Pro Camera”, along with regular photo app, brings a new interface. Manual focus is also available via the app.

The device seems to sport an AMOLED screen with resolution akin to that of the Lumia 920. The leak has also brought to the fore speakers that are integrated to the bottom of the handset.

It is also rumored that the device will not come in the Nokia-style flashy colors. The device may not also supports wireless charging. However, there is a possibility that wireless charging covers like NL 925 might come along.

There isn’t word on when the device might actually release – if it will, that is. Let’s zero in a on a date for Summer for a launch in the US.
