Samsung Tizen Device Model Numbers Out in the Open

May 4, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Samsung is currently top runner in the Android market, and despite that, the company knows that it can’t always stay with Android forever.

And, that could be why they have tried their luck and efforts with Windows Phone and Tizen.

Samsung has not yet announced their Tizen handsets, but it seems we might hear a little bit about them.

The guys at Blog of Mobile seem to have eyed a few model numbers of the upcoming Tizen devices from the South Korean manufacturer.

Now the Blog is in Japanese, so if you can’t read the language, then you would do well to translate the page.

Samsung TizenTwo devices, which the Japanese website discovered, have the model numbers GT-I880 and GT-I8805.

Now we could argue that both the model numbers refer to the same device, with the latter device offering a bit more on the spec sheet – like a dual SIM slot or something. But we don’t know for sure.

Probing a little deeper, the following information was found: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Tizen 2.1; en-us; SAMSUNG GT-I8800) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/2.1.0 Mobile. These could well spell Tizen-based handsets.

Samsung’s looking to out Tizen phones during the later half of this year.

So as days go by, we will be hearing about these model numbers, and we will know whether what we heard today comes true.
