Acer Lines Up 8-inch Windows 8 Tablet; Roll Out Likely This September

Acer is rumored to be working on a small screen Windows 8 tablet device and is expected to name it the Iconia W3.

If the grapevine buzz is true, then the Iconia W3 will be the first Windows 8 device with an 8-inch screen.

French technology website Minimachines first revealed the images and specs of the Iconia W3, but later removed them all from their site.

If the leak is reliable, then the W3 would come with a 1.8-GHz Intel Atom Z2760 processor and 2GB of RAM. The tablet will pack a screen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and will run full Windows 8 Pro.

Considering the spec details, it seems that the Iconia W3 will be competitor to Microsoft’s own Surface Pro and similar tablets.

The images published on Minimachines also include a case that can be folded and act as a stand and a dockable full-sized keyboard.

All Windows 8 tablets available in the market have 10-inch screens or larger, but normally customers are inclined towards tablets devices with smaller screens such as the iPad mini and the Nexus 7.

However, there have been rumors that Microsoft is reportedly planning a new Surface model with a 7-inch screen.

Not much info is available on the pricing details of the Iconia W3 . We expect the device to be release by September this year.
