Samsung Moves Ahead with Gigantic Phones; Even Note 2 Might Look Smaller Now

April 3, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Samsung has always delivered excellent performance and innovation to its users. While all the other things in the world are getting smaller, screens are getting larger every passing day.

Aiding this is the latest leak that suggests that Samsung is likely to roll out smartphones having screen sizes of 5.8 and 6.3 inch sizes. With bigger screens, Samsung has always pulled more crowds towards buying their products.

But the 6.3 inch phone might be a turndown in the phone segment as it will definitely look like a tablet no matter what design adopts it.

The largest phone, till date, by Samsung is the Note 2. But looking at the reports, it is pretty much evident that even the mighty Note 2 might look like a small phone when placed near these Samsung mega phones.

The release of phones with larger screens will be more difficult than it sounds. Resolution of the screen should be optimized without losing the ppi parameter. Display technologies have to be advanced so that power consumption is under control too. It is difficult, but not impossible.

The craving habit of bringing larger screens was lately seen in other brands too. With people preferring phones with larger screens, even clothing brands have taken measures in increasing their pocket sizes. But hopefully, the 6.3 inch screen might be the upper limit for the size of screens in smartphones.
