Icona Vulcano to Capture Eyes at Shanghai Auto Show

March 25, 2013, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Icona Vulcano is one car that almost all auto-lovers are looking forward to see during the Shanghai Auto Show next month. Of course, there will be loads of other beauties at the show, but the Vulcano has been shrouded in mystery and the only available image of the car is what you see below.

The Italian supercar has been splashed in ultra-red, and the engineering comes from the hands of Claudio Lombardi.

Lombardi was a former Technical Director for all that powertrain at Ferrari, so you can rest assured that the Vulcano would be no stranger to some hard-wired power.

The supercar is promised a front-engined V12 by Lombardi, and like the new McLaren P1 and LaFerrari, the Vulcano’s will be combined with electric motors that would subsidize an output of 900 hp. Going for the figures, the top speed is knotted at 350 km/h (217 mph), gearing an acceleration of 0-200 km/h (120 mph) in under ten seconds.

The screenshot shows a streamlined beast that looks a lot like a mid-engined McLaren. It needs to be seen how a V12 would be racked up inside.

The Icona Vulcano is touted to follow the design language, by Samuel Chuffart, Icona’s design director, that first rode on the Icona Fuselage concept 2 years back. The Shanghai Auto Show will reveal a lot more on this Italian supercar, so until then let’s just wait for April 21st.
